Sign and Return runs on your own computer or server. When you send a document for signature, the email your client receives carries only a link — the document itself never leaves your instance. When they sign, the signed PDF and its record are written to your machine, and nowhere else. No vendor holds a copy of your clients’ files.
A solo practice and a small firm run the same software. The Firm tier adds the ability for staff to send under an attorney’s supervision, with each seat seeing only its own work — and the certificate names the responsible attorney, never the staff member who did the typing.
Every signed document comes back with a signing certificate that records:

1. Prepare
Upload a PDF and place the signature, name, and date fields your client must complete.
2. Send
Your client gets an email with a single-use signing link that expires. The email carries the link, not the document.
3. They sign
No account, no app, no password. They open the link on a phone or computer, consent to sign electronically, and sign.
4. You keep the record
The signed PDF returns to your instance with its certificate and audit trail — stored on your hardware, exportable at any time.

Sign and Return is software you install, not a website you sign into. It runs in Docker on a Windows, Mac, or Linux machine — setup takes about twenty minutes and assumes no technical background.
Your computer holds the records, so backups are yours to make, and the machine needs a public web address so your clients’ phones can reach their signing links.
